5 things every coach should know about social media

With more than 4.35 billion people already on Social Media which is more than 55% of the world population, if you are not on social, your business is dead. However, just joining any platform and start posting something on that doesn’t count as a social media strategy. When all the brands are competing on this online platform to share their message with their audience, you need a well planned strategy to get benefit out of it.

While working with different coaches on their social media strategy, I have found that using the wrong strategy has hampered their business more than bringing any profit. There is n number of strategies which are there and the best one are when they are customized as per your brand, but still, these top 5 strategies are a must for every coach to consider while formatting their social media strategy.

  1. Choosing the right platform: There are so many platforms on Social Media and all of them are good. There will be a lot many new in the future. So if you are starting out, the best strategy is to start with 1 platform and create a good community and then expand to other c[platforms. While selecting the platform you need to consider two things, where you will have maximum clients for your business and also how comfortable you are with using the tools of that business. For example, if You are not confident in making videos, then Tiktok can never be your best platform.
  2. Use of right data matrices: Most of the coaches are focused on very few matrices only such as likes, reach, views etc. Most of the time coaches are engaged by wrong matrices. They are more focused on the number of likes they are getting. But believe me, it’s good to get likes but for you, it’s more about the engagement or DM’s you get. There are many more matrices like engagement rate, follower’s growth rate, etc. which gives a better indication of your profile. You need to track the right thing to get the right output.
  3. Strong connection with your audience: You need to understand that there is a difference between a motivational speaker and a coach. As a motivational speaker, it’s more about how many more people you can touch. Even if their lives are changed even a little, you have done your job. But as a coach, it’s more challenging. You actually work with them for a longer duration and bring complete transformation. So while interacting on Social Media, try to build strong relationships with them so that you can find your ideal clients easily.
  4. Consistency is key: This is very important for you because of two reasons. First, if you are consistent, social media algorithm will help you to reach a wider audience. Also, your audience will know when they should expect gems from your content. Secondly, if we ourselves are not consistent which means we are not disciplined, then how our mentees are going to trust us and follow when you will ask them to be disciplined to achieve transformation. Yes, there are best practices like how much you should post and when to post, but before that whatever you choose, you should stick to that.
  5. Be original: You might see some good coaches and try to copy them. But please stop. You can get some ideas about the best practices but if you want to grow big, create your own unique style so that your audience can easily distinguish you. They should be very clear with what you do, whom you help and how you do that.
